Cedar Park Fire Chief James Mallinger has a message to all, this July 4th: leave fireworks to the professionals. That’s because most fireworks are illegal in and around Cedar Park. In addition to potentially starting a fire, fireworks can result in serious injuries, particularly to children. “Fireworks cause thousands of injures and many fires each year” says Fire Chief James Mallinger. Chief Mallinger confirms that certain types of fireworks allowed in Cedar Park are products that do not explode or fly up into the air. Examples include sparklers, blooming flowers, and snaps. Still, Chief Mallinger urges everyone to instead attend the City’s professional fireworks display at Elizabeth Milburn Park.

“Our event is safe, fun, performed by pyrotechnics experts and staffed by professional firefighters,” Chief Mallinger says.
Chief Mallinger adds that because Cedar Park has many fire service areas which are not part of the city per se, it is important for area residents to understand the law, especially as it pertains to areas outside of city limits.
