City Participates in 'It's Time Community Challenge'
Residents are urged to sign up and help city win a $1,200 in school donations.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- It’s time, Cedar Park. It’s time for the “It’s Time Community Challenge,” that is.
The city is participating in a statewide competition among cities that tracks residents’ fitness achievements toward the overall goal of promoting healthy living.
Participating residents register as players on a website, and then log their weekly fitness activity. Along the way, they help their city earn points toward a prize of $1,200 for the winning city to donate to a school.

The most points can be accumulated through “healthy selfies,” and by participating en masse among schools, businesses and other local organizations. Cedar Park is competing in the “mid-sized city” category.
Those registering can log their activity and weight loss retroactively to Jan. 1.

Since the competition began at the start of the year, Cedar Park has accumulated nearly 35,000 points, putting it in the Top 5. At that rate, the city needs 10,000 more points to make it to the top of the list.
In terms of activities, the city has collectively logged 12 ”school activities,” and two from organizations and businesses. There have been 5,500 individual activities (“Our population is 67,500, hint, hint,” city officials write in a not-so-subtle request for more submissions.
Another weighty issue: There’s only been 22 pounds lost, according to the activity logs. City officials suspect that number is greater.
To help your city win, visit www.ittcommunitychallenge.com to get started. If you participate, the city asks to make sure you input your city as Cedar Park.
Let the games begin!
