Company Recalls Children's Cough Syrup

Move made to prevent overdoses due to incorrectly marked dosage cups.

CEDAR PARK-LEANDER, TX -- The makers of a children’s cough syrup sold at HEB and other stores have voluntarily recalled two batches of the medicine containing defective dosage cups.

The Perrigo Co. issued consumer alerts to the recall two batches of its children’s guaifenesin grape liquid and and children’s guaifenesin DM cherry liquid. The move was prompted after dosing cups with incorrect markings were included in the packaging, company officials said in a statement.

The medicine is sold at area stores, including HEB, CVS and Dollar General. All told, nine major retailers sell the medicines under different brand names throughout the country.
