Coronavirus: Wilco Forward Grants Program Issues $2.8M In Aid

In the first 3 days since the financial relief program was launched, nearly 200 checks have been isssued to area small businesses.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Officials on Monday said Wilco Forward — the county's grant program designe to provide financial relief to local businesses impacted by the new coronavirus spread of illness — has issued 198 checks to date, accounting for $2.8 million of the $25 million allocation for the program.

Wilco Forward is funded through the approximately $93 million the county received from the CARES Act, county officials explained. To date, the county has received 2,423 applications for relief funds.

In the first three business days since opening up the grants process to applications, officials said nearly $3 million has been put into the hands of small businesss owners. The raid clip of applications speaks to the urgent need, as the first payments were issued within the first 24 hours of the program launch and nearly 200 in the first three days.

Applications are still being accepted, county officials noted. Applications can be submitted online through the county’s website at www.wilco.org/forward to the Williamson County Auditor’s Office. The money will be issued as applications are processed until the $25 million in budgeted funds are exhausted, county officials noted.
