First Phase Of Northline To Include Leander Town Square
Mayor Troy HIll said 1.3 acres of urban civic phase will be dubbed Leander Town Square.

LEANDER, TX — The first phase of construction for Northline — the largest downtown project proposed in the heart of Leander's transit-oriented development district — will include 1.3 acres of urban civic space dubbed Leander Town Square, the mayor said Wednesday.
“Leander Town Square will be the focal point of our new downtown,” Mayor Troy Hill said in a prepared statement. “This space could serve as the destination for a new city hall or other public function that could spur all kinds of new investment in our city.”
Northline is a proposed walkable town center with a mix of retail, housing, hotel, business, restaurant and civic space. The area spans 115 acres in Leander's TOD located south of San Gabriel Parkway between US 183 and Toll 183A.

While city officials envision some type of public facility or space to be developed at Leander Town Square in partnership with Northline, the mayor said a final design has not yet been approved by the city. City Council members will discuss possible locations for a new city hall building at a retreat meeting this Friday and Saturday, June 21-22, according to city officials.
Alex Tynberg, Northline developer and owner of Northline Leander Development Company LLC, said his plans for installing horizontal infrastructure such as roads and utilities in the first phase of development will be submitted to the city this summer with construction anticipated later in the year.

Tynberg also announced that Lincoln Property Company will oversee the planning, marketing and vertical commercial development within Northline. “Northline is making tremendous progress with Lincoln Property Company now leading our commercial development efforts,” Tynberg said. “Securing Lincoln’s depth of expertise provides a significant boost to the Northline project and will accelerate our overall development timeline.”
In early 2018, the timeline for completion of Northline’s entire downtown center was estimated at 10 to 15 years. Expectations are that a fully developed Leander downtown could be valued at $800 million.
