Gold Star Families Monument Dedication Scheduled At Cedar Park (Video)

Dedication ceremony scheduled Sept. 23 honors family members of those giving the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

CEDAR PARK, TX — A monument honoring Gold Star families is scheduled this weekend in Cedar Park.

Gold Star Family members can be any relative—mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, adoptive or foster parents, wife, husband, child, stepchild, adopted child, brothers, sisters, half brothers or sisters, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces or nephews—who have sacrificed a loved one for the cherished ideal of freedom while fighting on the battleground.

Cedar Park officials have long planned the monument, now nearing completion largely thanks to the efforts of Chuck Rogers, a member of the American Legion Hunter-Morris Memorial Post 911 and chairman of the committee for the Cedar Park Texas Gold Star Family Memorial Monument project in Cedar Park. He's also an honorary board member of the Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation.
