Groundbreaking For iSports Center Scheduled In Cedar Park

The 206,000-square-foot youth sports facility will house sports tenants, family entertainment, sports medicine, retail sites, restaurants.

CEDAR PARK, TX — A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled on Wednesday for the iSports Training and Performance Center — a medical sports facility combining multi-specialty sports tenants, family entertainment, sports medicine, retail sites and restaurants.

The 206,000-square-foot facility will have as main feature a pair of standard National Hockey League-sized indoor ice rinks as well as two turf fields (both indoor and outside) operated by Chaparral Ice, officials said in a press advisory.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled on Wednesday, May 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale and other local officials expected to be in attendance. The event is is set to occur off the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 183A Toll and Scottsdale Drive in Cedar Park.

Sports figures are scheduled to be on hand, including hockey stars Travis Morin and Justin Dowling, as well as football star Quan Cosby and two-time Superbowl champion Dan Neil. Additionally, Jaxon Shipley, a former UT-Austin player and founder of Shipley Performance, is scheduled to be on-hand and share his affiliation with D1 Training, a future tenant.

Proponents of the fully funded project envision it as a catalyst in luring more youth sports activity to the region in capitalizing on a booming industry, company officials said.

Officials playing a role in the site's development are scheduled to join local community leaders during the groundbreaking ceremony, including Perardi Development Founder Eric Perardi, the project’s developer; Chaparral Ice Owner Ryan Raya; D1 Training Group of Central Texas, Managing Partner, Ken Fidje; and D1 Training Group of Central Texas President, Kevin Engelbrecht.

Also scheduled to attend the groundbreaking are some of the project's financial backers — including JP Newman and Adrian Lufschanowski of Thrive FP, Rafa Valiente of Washington Federal Bank and John Trube. Other notable attendees joining the mayor will be officials with both the Cedar Park and Leander chambers of commerce.
