Incoming Leander City Manager To Start Work On Dec. 2

Incoming City Manager Rick Beverlin emerged as the lone finalist among many qualified candidates, officials said.

LEANDER, TX — Incoming City Manager Rick Beverlin's first day is scheduled on Dec. 2, the mayor recently announced.

Mayor Troy Hill revealed the incoming city manager's start date after Beverlin emerged as the lone finalist among many other qualified city manager candidates reviewed by Leander City Council during its recruitment and selection process beginning in June.

The mayor made the following statement:

"Our Council believes that as one of the greatest and fastest growing livable cities in the nation, Leander deserves the best leadership, and Rick exemplifies the type of leadership traits we want. We look forward to many successful years under his guidance and welcome him and his family to our town."

Beverlin will leave his current role as the assistant city manager in Galveston, Texas, having overseen development services, public transportation and grant management during his tenure. Beverlin also served as economic development director in League City, Texas, city administrator in Kemah, Texas, and worked in the private sector as vice president of government affairs for Goodman Corp.

"I'm humbled to be coming on board and grateful for the professional, helpful and warm welcome I've received from city representatives." said Beverlin. "I look forward to building on Leander's outstanding potential and will work to strengthen our profile as a sought-after destination community."

Beverlin will assume the city manager role just as the municipality prepares for a citywide comprehensive plan update(link is external) in 2020. Since the city's last update in 2015, Leander's population has nearly doubled, increasing from 38,206 residents in 2015 to an estimated 63,527 residents today.
