Bomb Squad Removes 'Potential Hazard' from Parmer Lane, Causing Delays: UPDATE

The object reportedly turned out to be only a firework cover.

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Department of Public Safety bomb squad cleared up a suspicious object Thursday morning at the intersection at 1431 and Parmer Lane, Police said. The activity caused lane closures and heavy traffic.

A 911 caller reported a grenade in the middle of the intersection, but the DPS has determined the object was only a plastic covering for a firework and was not a threat, the American Statesman reported.

Lanes of the intersection at 1431 and Parmer Lane were closed in the east, west and south directions at 11 a.m. Dec. 24. Only the northbound lanes of Parmer were open, and were allowed to go straight north, or turn right onto 1431 and head east, said Cedar Park spokeswoman Jennie Huerta.
