Event at LiveOak Church seeks to raise $2,000 to aid kids, with delicious chili, baked goods, coffee and games planned this Saturday.

LEANDER, TEXAS — Looking for something to do this weekend? This Saturday, an event in Leander combines two of life's greatest pleasures: Chili and philanthropy.
The Quirky Queens Destination Imagination team has scheduled a chili cook-off and bake sale to raise funds for Wonders & Worries, a non-profit that offers counseling and professional support to children with parents suffering from life-threatening or otherwise serious illness. Organizers hope to raise $2,000 from event sales.
The chili cook-off will be staged at LiveOak Church in Leander, 1195 Sonny Dr. on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive 20 minutes early. Tasting and judging of the chili offerings will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., with three top winners picked by 3:30 p.m. by a panel of judges.
