Leander Home Security Cam Catches Porch Thief In The Act (Video)

LEANDER, TX — This is the time of year when thieves are on the lookout for holiday packages on residents' porches. This is no abstraction, as a recent incident caught on a home surveillance system dramatically illustrated.

Police have posted video images from the front porch of a Leander home where a suspect is seen taking a package. While police don't specify a date of the theft, they noted it occurred on Connelly's Crossing. The brazen thief is seen taking the package in broad daylight, police noted.

The saving grace? A clear image of the person and the suspect's vehicle is seen in the recorded footage.

Police urge anyone who recognizes the thief in the video to contact them, stressing would-be tipsters not to post information about the suspect on the their Facebook page to where they posted the footage. Instead, those with information are asked to call Officer Autumn Kessler at (512) 528-2800 ext. 1056 or email at akessler@leandertx.gov.

"Thefts like this are very easy, so please contact the police with any suspicious activity in your neighborhood," police wrote. "You aren't bothering us!"
