Leander H.S. Educator Named 'Assistant Principal Of The Year'
Melissa King Knowles was recognized for securing the honor at a recent LISD board meeting.
LEANDER, TX -- Melissa King Knowles of Leander High School has been named the Assistant Principal of the Year by a leading association of educators.
The Texas Association of Secondary Principals tapped Knowles as the top assistant principal after she received the most nominations for the honor from regional peers. TASP officials with the Principal Image Committee then piced finalists, a field form which Knowles came out at the top.
Formed in 1922, the TASP was formed by and for more than 5,300 campus-level administrators. Its purpose is to build an active network of educators taking responsibility for the level of quality in school leadership, according to its website.

Knowles is the assistant principal at Leander High School. The school district notes that the nominations for the honor are based on exemplary performance and outstanding leadership in the secondary education landscape.
Knowles was recognized for the honor by the LISD board of trustees during their Feb. 4 meeting.
