Leander ISD Closes Grass Fields In The Wake Of Heavy Rainfall

Mother Nature took a toll on the acreage, and it's been closed until further notice as a result.

LEANDER, TX -- The heavy rains of the past few days -- including some flooding conditions -- have taken a toll on the Leander Independent School District grass fields.

So much so, Leander ISD officials closed off access to them on Monday until further notice.

District officials made the announcement on their website on Monday.

Patch will reach out to district officials this week to learn more about the extent of the damage the fields sustained, and when they might be re-opened.

Central Texas was hit hard by the rains of the past few days, with nine to 16 inches falling on various parts of the state. Late Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott declared nine counties as disaster areas, but neither Travis nor Williamson were included on the list given that they were spared the brunt of the storm.
