Leander ISD Fine Arts Director Given Lifetime Achievement Award

Peter Warshaw helps students hit all the right notes as the district's fine arts director.

LEANDER, TX -- The Texas Bandmaster Association recently awarded Leander ISD Fine Arts Director Peter Warshaw the 2016 Lifetime Administrator Achievement Award, school district officials said.

The award will be presented this summer in San Antonio. The association promotes the value of music eduction in society and its important role in cultural, intellectual and social aspects of daily life. Each year, the group selects a person who makes a measurable impact on those ideals in Texas.

With Warshaw at the helm, the district's fine arts programs stage events that showcase the work of students, who have performed at numerous conventions and other gatherings.

Warshaw formerly served as coordinator of Fine Arts at Bryan ISD and as director of bands at J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson. During his stint at Pearce, the band twice performed at Carnegie Hall, and was bestowed with high honors that included the Sudler Flag of Honor in 2000.
