Leander ISD Honors Its 'Amazing Librarian Of The Year'

Becky Calzada was feted at board of trustees meeting after an honor that was bestowed by her librarian peers.

LEANDER, TX -- Librarians are often the unsung heroes of the academic world. With an encylopediac mind, they are able to secure a needed resource within moments or directing one where to look for the needed information.

But sadly, their efforts largely go unnoticed.

Not so in Leander. At the last Leander ISD meeting of the board of trustees, Becky Calzada -- LISD's coordinator of library services -- was honored as the 2016 Amazing Librarian of the Year.

The honor is made even more prestigious given that it came from her peers in the Librarians Special Interest Group during the annual TCEA Convention & Exposition.

The award's aim is to "...celebrate particular librarians who hare their time and expertise about technology and the Internet through technological forums, such as listservers, presentations or creative library strategies integrating technology in the curriculu," LISD officials officials said.
