Leander Mayor-Elect Troy Hill To Be Sworn In July 5
After winning recent runoff election with more than 61 percent of the vote, Hill will be sworn in during upcoming city council meeting.

LEANDER, TX — After winning a recent runoff election with more than 61 percent of the vote, Mayor-elect Troy Hill will be sworn in at the Leander City Council regular meeting on July 5, officials said.
Since outstanding overseas ballots are still accepted by Williamson County until Friday, June 22, Leander City Council will hold a special meeting on June 25 to canvass the final votes and certify election results, officials added.
Ballots accepted after the election?
Voters who are returning ballots from outside of the United States must have them postmarked at or before 7 p.m. on Election Day, and the ballot must be received by Williamson County Elections(link is external) no later than five days after the election.
Why canvass?
The purpose of a canvass is to account for every ballot cast and to ensure that each valid vote is included in the official results. For an election official, the canvass means aggregating or confirming every valid ballot cast and counted — absentee, early voting, Election Day, provisional, challenged, and uniformed and overseas citizen. The canvass enables an election official to resolve discrepancies, correct errors, and take any remedial actions necessary to ensure completeness and accuracy before certifying the election.
