Leander Police Remind Residents of Important Strategic Plan

CEDAR PARK-LEANDER, TX - The Leander Police Department reminded residents that they have a comprehensive plan to keep up with the city’s growth in 2016 and beyond.

In 2013, the police department staff held a two-day retreat to undergo leadership training and discuss the future of the City, with a focus on public safety service delivery and other anticipated issues.

From this meeting came the “1-5-10 Strategic Plan,” which acts as a “road map” for the future of the Leander Police Department.

“It’s almost the New Year!!! It’s ok, DON’T PANIC!!! We actually have a plan for next year... And the year after that, and the year after that.... Actually, the Leander Police Department has a full 1-5-10 plan for the development of the police department to keep up with the city’s growth,” the Leander Police Department wrote on social media.

Questions addressed in the plan included:

• How do we maintain a safe and secure community?

• How do we enhance our services and interaction with the community we serve?

• How do we utilize technology and equipment to maximize efficiency?

• How do we prepare for future growth?

• How do we plan the organizational structure of the department and deploy personnel effectively?

• How do we develop employee skills and leadership?

“By no means can this plan be completely comprehensive or predict every need, as the future brings many unknowns, but we have made a good faith effort to address what we believe will be the future of the Leander Police Department,” the police department wrote on its website.
