Leander Police Warn Residents Of Phony Solicitations

Unidentified company has been attempting to solicit funds from local businesses in the name of the Leander Police Department, officials say.

LEANDER, TX — Law enforcement officials are warning residents that a company is attempting to solicit funds from local businesses in the name of the Leander Police Department.

"At this time, no third-party company is authorized to solicit funds in association with the police department," police said in an advisory on the municipal website. "If you are contacted by a company or representative other than a Leander police officer in uniform, or one of our approved nonprofit organizations such as Leander Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, please avoid interaction and contact LPD immediately."
