Leander Resident Donates Potentially Life-Saving Ballistic Protection Kits To Police
Marilie Walker donated equipment that will provide an extra layer of protection specifically designed to deal with rifle-wielding suspects.

LEANDER, TX — Leander police can now breathe a little easier when confronted with dangerous encounters with weapon-wielding suspects, thanks to to a donation of "active shooter" protection kits by a resident.
Leander resident Marilie Walker recently donated the ballistic protection kits to the Leander Police Department. Gratful police thanked their benefactor in a in a Facebook post.
"Saying thank you is insufficient to express our sincere gratitude," police wrote.

The type of protection donated to the police department is used by officers answering dangerous "in progress" shooting calls, police explained. The donated items yield an extra layer of shielding when a suspect is armed with a rifle, police added.
Walker and her son, Carson, recently stopped by the police station to deliver the equipment. "Thank you again for your kindness and support," police wrote on Facebook.
