Leander School Wants To Repeat Last Year's Fundraising Gains
Wiley Middle School raised more than $20,000 for charity in last year's St. Baldrick's cancer charity event.

LEANDER, TX -- The police department is leading fundraising for the upcoming St. Baldrick's event that encourages people to shave their heads for charity, but Wiley Middle School students are hoping to emerge as charity champions.
Last year, Wiley Middle School raised more than $21,000 for childhood cancer research through their campus-staged event posted on the Hill Country News website. They accomplished this with 89 shavees, 99 volunteers and 16 teams.
The school is participating again this year. Local community and businesses are encouraged to join and BRAVE THE SHAVE by volunteering, donating or stopping by the event Saturday, May 21 to jparticipate in the effort.

Entertainment will begin in the big gym from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Shaving starts at 11 a.m.
All shaving is done by a licensed barber, organizers stressed.

The Cedar Park Police Department is currently leading fundraising efforts as they approach their goal of $1,000 to be raised.
