Leander Wants Residents' Help In Finding New City Manager

LEANDER, TX — Leander City Council members seek input from the public in selecting new manager.

On their municipal website, city officials are soliciting feedback from residents as the recruitment process led by Powell Municipal continues. To that end, residents are invited to participate in a brief online survey, the results of which will be used to develop interview questions for job candidates.

The reasoning is that contenders for the city manager's post should have a vision that's reflective of the community's needs and wishes, according to the advisory. The community survey will remain open until Friday, July 19, at 5 p.m. Read more about the council's recruitment and selection process.

Leander City Council members on May 20 voted to remove Kent Cagle as the city manager following a closed-door discussion during a special meeting. Cagle had served as the city's city manager since November 2011, according to his LinkedIn account. Before coming to Leander, Cagle served as city manager in Duncanville, Texas, for nearly 11 years before serving as assistant city manager there for four years, his online resume reads.

The reason for Cagle's firing was not disclosed. Assistant City Manager David Carroll was appointed to serve as acting city manager ahead of a search for a more permanent replacement.
