Leander Woman Charged With Injury To Child After Throwing Toddler Into Shopping Cart

Amanda Ketterer, 34, was being held at the Williamson County Jail as of Wednesday as a result of the injury to a child charge.

LEANDER, TX — A woman is accused of injuring her toddler after throwing him into a shopping cart at a local HEB grocery store, according to a published report.

Citing an arrest affidavit, the Austin American-Statesman reported that Amanda Ketterer, 34, of Leander has been charged with injury to a child. The accusation stems from a witness account detailing how the woman threw the 2-year-old child into the shopping cart while he was still aloft after she picked him up on Tuesday.

Police reported to the scene at 651 U.S. 183 North following a call from the witness. Other witnesses told police the woman had been cursing loudly at the child before the alleged throwing incident, including one account quoting the woman as saying she would "...beat him within an inch of his life," the witness said.

The responding officer is said to have spotted a large bruise on the side of the boy's face and red marks on the left side of his hip and lower back that appeared to be recent injuries, according to the affidavit cited by the Statesman.

Ketterer was being held at the Williamson County Jail as of Wednesday, with a bond set at $25,000, according to records available online. Records indicate this isn't Ketterer's first run-in with the law, with previous charges of driving with a suspended license and theft of property by check in her past record.
