Lightning Blamed For Leander House Fire

Fire officials say lightning during Monday's storm sparked blaze at Long Lasso Pass home, displacing family of four.

LEANDER, TX — Fire officials believe lightning was the cause of a house fire the occurred in the midst of storms that swept through the region on Monday, according to reports.

KXAN reported homeowner Ray Barros, his two children and their dogs made it out of their house along Long Lasso Pass safely as the man's wife rushed to meet them from South Austin after being told of the fire.

A neighbor saw a lightning strike at around 12:30 p.m. before losing power and seeing flames and smoke plumes from the peak of the Barros home, the station reported. Firefighters told the news station the roof will have to be replaced and significant water damage on the second story repaired.
