Gary Dill, 59, is accused of setting fire to wicker basket on porch before blaze spread to home while renters he was mad at were inside.

LEANDER, TX — A man is accused of setting fire to a Leander house because he was angry at the renters, according to a published report.

Referencing an arrest affidavit, the Austin American-Statesman reported that Gary Dill, 59, used a tiki torch on the Fourth of July to set fire to a wooden wicker basket on the porch at the house along the 800 block of County Road 270. The fire then spread from the porch to the structure, rendering the home uninhabitable, according to the report.

Surveillance camera footage corroborated witness accounts, police noted in an arrest affidavit. According to the report, five people were inside the home when Dill allegedly set it on fire, including three who were renting the house from him.
