Man Accused Of Whipping Ex With Wire Hanger, Stealing At Cedar Park Apartment

CEDAR PARK, TX -- Police accused a man of physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend and her roommate before stealing some of her belongings from their Cedar Park apartment, according to a published report.

Anthony Ladell Winn, 40, is charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony along with burglary of a habitation, according to police information. Winn is accused of striking his ex with a wire hanger, punching the roommate and then stealing a computer, cash and credit card from them, according to a report in the Austin American-Statesman.

The incident occurred a while back -- on June 16 -- but details were just released via an affidavit on Tuesday, the report says. The victims told police they were afraid of returning home after Winn contacted them asking as to their whereabouts, fearing he would be there, the Statesman reported.

So the two women waited at another friend's house for a few hours, returning home at about 2 a.m., the newspaper reported. The two women were rushed from behind as they arrived home, the report indicates.

What would follow was a four-hour long ordeal, during which the ex-girlfriend would be whipped with a wire hanger on her lower extremities -- strategic strikes so they wouldn't be visible when the woman was clothed, the newspaper reported.

The frightened woman was finally able to place a call to relative at 6 a.m., and police were notified after 9 a.m. An initial search for the suspect was unsuccessful, but police caught up with him on Sept. 1 and promptly arrested him, the Statesman reported.

Winn is now in the Williamson County Jail under a $300,000 bail for the three charges. He faces up to 99 years' imprisonment for the burglary of habitation with intent to commit a felony charge, a first-degree felony. For the burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony, he faces up to 20 years.
