New Austin Community College In Leander To Be Called San Gabriel Campus

The voter-approved school will serve up to 2,500 students once it opens in the summer of 2018.

LEANDER, TX -- It's official: The future Austin Community College site in Leander will be named the ACC San Gabriel Campus.

The ACC board ofof trustess recently adopted the name at their last regular meeting. The vote to name the future campus came by virtue of a unanimous vote, KVUE-TV noted in a recent report.

Ground is now expected to be broken for construction of the campus along San Gabriel Parkway (between the 183A toll road and Mel Mathis Boulevard) on April 21.

Voters approved construction funding for the future campus in a 2014 bond referendum. The campus is scheduled to open by summer 2018, with a capacity to serve some 2,500 students.

Its location meets a pent-up demand; Leander last year was named the fourth fastest-growing city in the entire state, as widely reported in the media.
