Nine Leander ISD Students Awarded Concordia University Scholarships

The $2,000 scholarships were awarded to seniors at various Leander high schools.

LEANDER, TX -- Nine Leander ISD seniors have been awarded $2,000 Community Scholarships by Concordia University.

“Leander ISD is thankful for our strong partnership with Concordia University,” Leander ISD Superintendent Bret Champion said in a prepared statement. “Through their generous Community Scholarship, our good neighbors at Concordia are taking another step in supporting our district’s mission to ensure that all students graduate with every option. We appreciate all that Concordia does for the students of LISD.”

Scholarships recipients are: LeeAnn Stephens from Cedar Park High School; Christian Carroll and Daniel Traub from Leander High School; Ross Edwards and Marissa Vargas from Rouse High School; Alyssa Montes and Gabriella Sweeney from Vista Ridge High School; and Stephen King and Robert Kohloff from Vandegrift High School.

The selected students are graduating seniors who have been accepted by Concordia and have achieved standard admission to the university for the upcoming fall semester. To receive the scholarships, recipients maintained full-time status and a minimum 2.5 GPA among other conditions.

Concordia University Texas offers undergraduate, graduate, and an Accelerated Degree Program for adult students. The main campus is located in Northwest Austin with four university centers in central Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. Online classes are offered for some programs.

A privately held, accredited, liberal arts university, Concordia is under the auspices of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. The school is part of the Concordia University System that has more than 31,000 students.
