Open Call For The Play "Same Time Next Year"

LEANDER, TX -- Way Off Broadway Community Players located at 11880 Hero Way West, Leander, TX 78641, is hosting an open casting call for "Same Time Next Year" -- one of the most popular romantic comedies of the century, running 4 years on Broadway and later a successful motion picture, starring Ellen Burstyn and Alan Alda. Auditions are scheduled to be held Monday, Nov. 6 from 7 PM - 10 PM.

Seeking one female for the role of Doris -- Starts out as an awkward girl, then becomes progressively a young, restless housewife, a college student returnee, overaged flower child, accomplished high powered career woman and finally a settled matron. She deeply loves her husband.

Also seeking one male for the role of George -- Starts out as a guilt-ridden, neurotic accountant becoming increasingly stuffy and rich. Later, he gives it all up, goes into psychiatric analysis, becomes a hippie, and finally returns to The Establishment. He also deeply loves his wife.

The play's synopsis revolves around two people meeting by chance at a romantic inn. Although married to other people, the two strangers end up in the same bed together the following morning and question how it all happened. The characters end up agreeing to meet on the same weekend each year. The span of twenty-five years plays out before the audience, and in the course of time the two characters are seen changing and relying more on one another to navigate personal crisis. An emotional intimacy is forged between the characters in this touching and hilarious play.

Auditions take place at the theater. A resume is helpful but not required. Bring your calendar to identify schedule conflicts. Auditions consist of cold readings of the script.

Performances are Jan 5,6,12,13,14,19,20, 26 & 27.
