Open Carry Banned by These Cedar Park-Area Businesses

CEDAR PARK-LEANDER, TX - Texas’ new open carry law went into effect Jan. 1, allowing residents to visibly display handguns in most areas, but businesses have the right to opt out if they clearly display a sign stating they ban the practice.

H-E-B has opted out of open carry, and the manager of the Round Rock location recently called police to report someone had entered the store with a visible gun in a holster.

Here is a list of some businesses in the Austin and Cedar Park area that do not allow open carry:

Bars: All bars that have a 51 percent sign, which means at least 51 percent of their sales go to alcohol.

Movie theaters: All movie theaters except for The Imax Theater at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, according to the American-Statesman.
