Police Identify Man Killed Near Cedar Park After Colliding With Tree

Kevin Henderson, 61, left the roadway the morning of June 2, hit a curb and lost control of the vehicle before it crashed, police said.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- Police identified the man killed last week after his car hit a tree in North Austin 

Kevin Henderson, 61, died from injuries sustained after his car hit a tree at 11200 Lakeline Mall Drive on June 2, police said in a statement. According to a birth date provided by police, Henderson would have turned 62 a mere 12 days after the collision that claimed his life. 

A preliminary Austin Police Department investigation revealed that a blue 2000 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Lakeline Mall Drive shortly after 9 a.m. when it left the roadway, police said. The car hit the curb, drove over a guardrails and hit a tree.

The driver, identified as Henderson, was transported to Round Rock Hospital. He died of his injuries there a short time later. Police said alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the crash.

The case is still being investigated. Anyone with information into the incident is asked to notify police by calling  (512) 974-5576.

Police noted this was the 29th road fatality in Austin so far this year.
