Williamson County Sheriff's Office Deputies Seize $90K In Hidden Cash During Traffic Stop
Motorist Carlos Alberto Cantu Tijerina, 41, was booked into Williamson County Jail for money laundering as a result of the find.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Williamson County Sheriff's Office deputies on Wednesday seized $90,000 from a motorist during a traffic stop.
The traffic stop centered on a white Toyota van that was traveling south on Interstate 35. Registered in Mexico, the vehicle was being driven by Carlos Alberto Cantu Tijerina, 41. Deputies later said the driver displayed "numerous indicators" that led them to believe he was involved in criminal activity.
After securing consent to search the vehicle, deputies found more than $90,000 in a cavity on the vehicle.

"It was a typical interdiction stop, as we call it, where the deputies pulled him over for a traffic violation,” Sheriff Robert Chody asserted. Tijerina subsequently was charged with money laundering and booked into the the Williamson County Correctional facility.
This case continues to be investigated, police said.
