Search For Hit-And-Run Driver In Fatal Leander Crash Continues

Collision between motorcycle and truck at intersection of Palmera Ridge Boulevard and Ronald W. Reagan Boulevard leaves man dead.

LEANDER, TEXAS — The search continues for a hit-and-run driver who left a motorcyclist dead over the weekend.

Police were dispatched to the intersection of Palmera Ridge Boulevard and Ronald W. Reagan Boulevard just before midnight on Saturday, officials said. There, police said a truck turned from Palmera Ridge into the path of a motorcycle traveling southbound on Ronald Reagan. The motorcycle is said to have collided with the rear portion of the truck as a result of the impact.

The truck driver then fled the scene after having stopped briefly, according to reports.

Officials identified the dead motorcyclist as Danny Roy Hankins, 34, of Round Rock. He was rushed to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police now are seeking the driver of the truck involved in the fatal wreck. The truck is described as white or light-colored GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck with a tool box in the back along with a work rack. The truck likely has body damage on the rear side, bumper and tail lamp, officials said.
