Summer Concerts In The Park Kick Off This Week In Cedar Park

The advent of summer in Cedar Park brings with it musical strains to suit virtually all tastes.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- In a sure sign of the arrival of summertime, the Summer Concerts in the Park is scheduled to kick off this week.

The first concert in the summer series is scheduled for June 15, when country/folk rock musician Sarah Pierce will take the stage. Her eponymous band, the Sarah Pierce Band, is sure to delight the crowds with her dulcet tones with musical instrument accompaniment heavy on strings.

According to her bio, Pierce started to sing professionally at age 12. One of her earliest appreciative audiences were cows in the West Texas ranch of her upbringing.

"Sarah Pierce, the daughter of a cowboy, raised in a family of cattlemen, was born in Rockford, Illinois and raised in rural West Texas," her bio reads. "In the 6th grade she was kicked out of the children’s choir because she sang too low, her incredible alto voice already making itself be known. She would later get on her mare and sing to the cattle in the fields, as Pierce says 'They didn’t seem to mind.' "

Throughout the summer, the concert series will feature a variety of music to suit virtually every taste. On July 20, the country/rock sounds of the Zach Willard Band will waft through the air. On August 15, the variety/cover band UndisKovered will take its turn in entertaining the crowd.
