Teenager Dies In Cedar Park Traffic Crash

Myles Hutcheson, 17, died after car he was driving crashed into trees along Brushy Creek Road, now closed to accommodate investigation.

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS — Police continue to investigate a deadly traffic fatality that claimed the life of a teenager early Monday morning along Brushy Creek Road.

The crash happened at around 5:45 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, along the 1900 block of Brushy Creek Road. Upon reaching the scene, police found a car had left the roadway and slammed into a tree line along the artery.

The driver, Myles Hutcheson, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene. Leander ISD officials have since confirmed the victim was a student at Vista Ridge High School.

"The Cedar Park Police Department Traffic Division is continuing to investigate this crash to determine whether there may have been contributing factors associated with this incident," police said in a prepared statement.

Given that ongoing investigation the eastbound lanes of the road between Gupton Way Drive and Vista Ridge Boulevard is expected to be shut down for several hours, police added in their press advisory. In the meantime, traffic traveling eastbound on Brushy Creek Road is being turned around to go back westbound near Gupton, a city spokeswoman told Patch.

"Eastbound lanes on Brushy Creek between Gupton and Vista Ridge are still closed as we investigate a deadly crash," Cedar Park police said in a late-morning tweet. "Please avoid the area as lanes will likely be shut down for several hours."

It was just last month Hutcheson's clutch play as a member of his high school's varsity basketball team was celebrated by school officials on social media.

"Rangers WIN!!" high school officials wrote in a Nov. 30 post on Facebook that now serves as fitting tribute to an athlete dying young. "Clutch free throws by @myles.hutcheson to seal the win!"
