Two Suspects Arrested After Cedar Park Pawn Shop Break-In
Police got an alarm call originating from a Bell Boulevard pawn shop late Monday, later finding suspects at another location.

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS — Two suspects were arrested late Monday after police received a call about a break-in at a pawn shop.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 17 after Cedar Park Police officers responded to an alarm call at Cash America Pawn, 510 S. Bell Blvd. Upon their arrival, police found the front glass door of the business smashed, and discovered the lock on a gate behind the business cut, police said in a Tuesday morning press advisory.
Police noted all the breakers in the electrical box had also been turned off, and a shoe print was located in the back near a smashed side door that was ajar.

While investigators were on scene at Cash America Pawn, police said, other officers were checking other pawn shops in the city. When officers pulled up to the Action Pawn at 2419 S. Bell Blvd., two males took off running behind the business and into the neighborhood, according to the press advisory.
A perimeter was set and officers searched the area with assistance from the Austin Police Department helicopter. A police dog located one of the subjects about an hour into the search, leading to his detention. The suspect was identified as Cristwell Mathes, 23, After questioning, Mathes is said to have admitted to being at Cash America Pawn earlier. He was arrested and charged with Evading on Foot, Burglary of a Building and had two outstanding warrants, police said.

The second individual was found a short time later by another police canine. He was identified as Elijah Johnson, 23. After questioning, according to police, Johnson also admitted to the burglary at Cash America Pawn. The shoes Johnson was wearing matched the shoe print found at the scene of Cash America Pawn, police said. He was arrested and charged with Evading on Foot and Burglary of a Building.
Police continue to investigate the incident. Further details will be provided as they become available, police said.
