WATCH: Fire Scene Video Shows Cedar Park Officers' Heroism
Dramatic footage shows Officer Jacqueline Quiles kicking in door of burning apartment before Ian White and Ryan Zander save man inside.

CEDAR PARK, TX — It's rare to see the often heroic work of first responders in action at an emergency scene. Yet video from a recent fire from which a man was pulled in saving his life dramatically illustrates the dangerous work in which officers and firefighters often engage, in this case with a good outcome.
At around 1:20 a.m. on April 11, Cedar Park Police Department officers were dispatched to an apartment fire at 335 Cypress Creek Rd., told in advance a resident might still be inside the burning building. In bodycam video that's since been released, Officer Jacqueline Quiles is seen kicking in the door before her colleagues, Ian White and Ryan Zander rushed inside the smoke-filled apartment.
There, the officers found a male resident unconscious from the smoke, dragging him out to safety before administering CPR. Cedar Park Fire Department crews also were on hand, aiding in the life-saving efforts. As the resident's life was being saved, other officers evacuated the rest of the building.

The male victim was then flown to the Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio for medical treatment. Sadly, the man's dog perished in the fire, even while the human victim's life was saved. All three Cedar Park officers who entered the building were treated for smoke inhalation on scene.
On Tuesday, a Cedar Park Police Department spokesperson provided an update on the victim's condition. He was released from the burn unit on Friday afternoon. While he suffered no burns, he was stricken with smoke inhalation, the spokesperson said. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The cause of the fire sparked in the apartment's kitchen is still under investigation, but the fire chief later said it is not considered suspicious.
The Cedar Park Police Department released video of the officers' courageous actions, dramatically illustrating their quick action in saving the man while facing personal peril. Often, the work of first responders is seen only in the abstract based on subsequent tales of their work. The following video leaves no room for abstraction, depicting the officers' work in dramatic detail.
