WilCo Commander Graduates From FBI National Academy

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday that Commander Kelli Bomer recently graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Bomer was one of 260 law enforcement officers who graduated from the academy on Sept.13, the sheriff's office noted. The 277th session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 50 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 34 countries, five military organizations, and nine federal civilian organizations, according to the sheriff's office.

The National Academy offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. On average, graduating officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to serve in executive-level positions at their respective law enforcement agencies.

FBI Director Christopher Asher Wray delivered remarks at the ceremony while class spokesperson Angela Hawkins of the Brentwood (Missouri) Police Department represented the graduating officers.

FBI Academy instructors, special agents, and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training during the academy training, with many of the instructors internationally recognized in their fields. Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered.

A total of 52,282 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is housed at the FBI Academy in Quantico, the same facility, where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
