WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Paramedics were recently honored for their service during an annual recognition ceremony, county officials said.
On Nov. 30, Williamson Count EMS staged their annual Recognition Ceremony to celebrate and honor the work paramedics perform every day. During the gathering, the department recognized paramedica involved in the care and resuscitation of cardiac arrest patients, the delivery of babies, and otherwise excellent medical care and customer service.
All told, the department bestowed 44 individual Phoenix awards for 15 cardiac arrest saves. A Phoenix award is given to each paramedic who was involved in the care of the cardiac arrest patient, officials explained. The patient must present in cardiac arrest, have a return of pulse, and be discharged from the hospital neurologically intact to qualify for the high honor.
