Williamson County Implements Outdoor Burn Ban

County judge issues burn ban not to exceed 90 days or until conditions improve, with violators subject to $500 fine.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX Officials on Tuesday issued a countywide burn ban.

Th ban on outdoor burning authorized by County Judge Dan A. Gattis is not to exceed 90 days. The judge is authorized to lift the ban when conditions improve, officials said.

A person violates this order if he or she burns any combustible material outside of an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks, or orders such burning by others, officials explained in a press advisory. The burn ban prohibits the burning of household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush and other yard trimmings, officials added. It also prohibits burning to clear land of trees, stumps, shrubbery, or other natural vegetation.

Violations of the order are Class C Misdemeanors punishable by a fine up to $500.
