Williamson County Officials Stage Groundbreaking For RM 620 Expansion Project
Second phase of project extending road from Wyoming Springs Drive to Deep Wood Drive is expected to take 1 1/2 years to complete.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Prominent Williamson County officials on Monday joined others in celebrating the beginning of of the second phase of construction on Ranch-to-Market Road 620 stretching from Wyoming Springs Drive to Deep Wood Drive.
The $6-million project will convert about three miles of an existing four-lane roadway to a six-lane curb and gutter section with raised median, officials explained. This segment will also include left- and right-hand turn lanes, and sidewalk along the north side of RM 620 to fill in current gaps.
Officials said they expect safety to be enhanced as a result of the project, as well as reduce congestion for motorists traveling through the area.

During a ceremony on Monday, Texas Department of Transportation officials were joined by Williamson County Precinct 1 Commissioner Lisa Birkman and Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Larry Madsen, along with other local officials and engineers.
“This project is being funded with money from voter-approved road bonds, so I would like to thank the voters for approving the road bonds that made these needed improvements to RM 620 possible,” Birkman said. “These bonds have funded improvements to RM 620 including phase 1 safety improvements approved by voters in the 2006 bond election and the improvements to phase 2 approved by voters in 2013.”

The contractor for the RM 620 project is Cox Commercial Construction, and is expected to take about a year and a half to complete.
