Williamson County Proclaims March As Purchasing Month

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS — The Williamson County Commissioners Court has proclaimed March as Purchasing Month, officials said on Thursday.

Officials provided some context for the proclamation: The Williamson County Purchasing Department contributes significantly to the quality and efficiency of governmental procurement resulting in fiscally responsible expenditures of public funds. The department participates in procuring goods and services; developing, executing, implementing and tracking contracts; and conducting annual inventory for all county assets.

Williamson County’s Purchasing Department has 10 employees who assist with purchasing more than $60 million in goods and services each year, officials noted. The Purchasing Department is located in the Georgetown Annex, 100 Wilco Way, Georgetown, Texas.

The Williamson County Purchasing Department has received the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) Award from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI) for 19 consecutive years making it one of the top organizations at all levels of public purchasing (city, county, school district, state, higher education and non-profits) in the country, officials said.

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award is nationally and internationally recognized as the gold standard for the achievement of excellence, innovation and best practices in the profession of public procurement. The AEP program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement to earn the award annually.
