2 Killed In Megabus Crash On I-45

State DPS investigators are investigating the cause of a crash between a charter bus and three other vehicles near New Waverly.

WALKER COUNTY, TX — Two people were killed and another severely injured in a crash on Interstate 45 involving a charter bus and three other vehicles.

The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. on I-45 south and FM 1375 near New Waverly.

Accident investigators with the Department of Public Safety said there were 75 passengers on the megabus traveling from Dallas to Houston when a maroon Sorento traveling north, lost control, crossed the median and into southbound traffic.

Investigators said the Sorento hit the center barrier, two other vehicles and the bus, landing on its roof in the southbound lanes.

The driver of the Sorento died at the scene.

A woman who was in a silver vehicle hit by the Sorento was taken by LifeFlight to and area hospital, and later died.

Officials said several bus passengers were taken to an area hospital with only minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
