2 Women Named Directors At Montgomery County Veterans Commission

Magnolia ISD board member Kelly McDonald and Taylorized PR founder Margie Taylor were sworn in Monday by Chairman Jimmie Edwards.

CONROE, TX — Two women from Montgomery County started their roles as directors at the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission on Monday.

Magnolia ISD school board member Kelly McDonald and Margie Taylor, founder of Taylorized PR and community volunteer, were sworn into the Commission's Board of Directors by Chairman Jimmie Edwards, according to a news release.

The 18-member board oversees Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park in Conroe, which honors United States service men and women past, present and future. There are four memorials at the park, which was dedicated in a Memorial Day ceremony this year.

The park also recently secured $7 million of funding through the state budget process, a cause championed by Texas Representative Will Metcalf of Conroe. The funding will go toward the next phase of the park's development, which includes an educational visitors center and museum.

McDonald is on her second term on the Magnolia ISD school board and is an active member of the National School Board Association, which advocates for public policies that ensure all students have access to an excellent public education where they live. She was appointed commissioner of Montgomery County Housing Authority Precinct 2 in March and is a board member and past president of the Rotary Club of Magnolia.

“The Commission is pleased to announce the addition of both Kelly and Margie to our team of dedicated directors to help facilitate the advancement of the Veterans Memorial Park into a facility for veterans, educators, students and the public to gather to learn about the experiences, tragedies and triumphs of the men and women who are serving or have served the United States of America from 1775 to present," Edwards said in the release.
