3-Year Old Boy Lost In Sam Houston National Forest Is Found Safe [UPDATE]

(Update) NEW WAVERLY, TX — A 3-year old boy who wandered off from his parents Saturday afteroon in the Sam Houston National Forest has been found safe, officials said.

Ezra, who was camping with his family in a remote area of the forest near Lake Stubblefield, was last seen at about 3 p.m. by his family as they were pitchng a tent with Eza and his two older siblings, officials reported.

Search crews who looked fror the Toddler for more than 24 hours, found the boy in a brushy area about 400 yards from his parent's campsite, according to a Houston Chronicle reported. Officials expressed concerned early in the search that Ezra could succumb to heat exhaustion, with temperatures reaching the mid 90s Saturday.

Helicopters from the Texas Depatment of Public Safety searched from the air, and agencies from the Texas Game Warden's Search & Rescue team, Texas EquuSearch, Montgomery County and Walker County also helped in the search efforts , using drones, foot searches, K9's and ATV, over the more than 24 hours Ezra was missing, KTRK reported.

Ezra, who was found smiling and apparently completely healthy, was taken to Texas Children's Hospital in The Woodlands to be examined by medical personnel.
