5 COVID-19 Deaths, 241 More Cases Friday: MCPHD

A New Caney man in his 30s was among the confirmed deaths. Montgomery County officials reported a drop of 17 active cases from Thursday.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — The Montgomery County Public Health District confirmed the deaths of five more residents with COVID-19 on Friday.

Three New Caney residents - a man in his 30s, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s - died, as well as a Montgomery woman in her 90s and a Splendora man in his 60s. All five had co-morbidities in addition to COVID-19. The five new deaths bring Montgomery County's total to 288.

MCPHD added 241 COVID-19 cases in the county, bringing the total number of cases to 52,540 since the start of the pandemic. There are 1,578 active cases in Montgomery County, a decrease of 17 since Thursday. There are 78 people in the county hospitalized with COVID-19, five less than Thursday.

MCPHD is taking appointments for first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. First doses will be administered at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah on Monday. All adults age 18 and over are eligible. Register for an appointment here.
