Theresa Kirkpatrick, Woman Missing In Sam Houston National Forest, Found Dead (UPDATE)

WALKER COUNTY, TX — Authorities have found the body of a woman who went missing in Sam Houston National Forest on Friday, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.

Officials said that Theresa Kirkpatrick went into the forest with her husband at about 8 a.m., and the two became separated about 30 minutes later. Kirkpatrick's husband continued to look for her before contacting authorities.

Late Saturday morning, authorities said Kirkpatrick's body was found in the search area. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said it was working with the Walker County Sheriff's Office and the investigation is active.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

About 80 people searched for Kirkpatrick throughout the day on Friday and into the overnight hours, KTRK reported.

Officials said the couple went into the forest to look for a dirtbike that had become stuck the day before, and during that search, the husband lost sight of his wife.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s investigators who are participating in the search said Kirkpatrick suffers from Type-2 diabetes, and may have passed out, KTRK reported.

Meanwhile, Allen Kirkpatrick, Theresa’s husband, was taken to an area hospital Friday afternoon, suffering from heat exhaustion.
