Conroe City Council Approves Contracts for City Services, Projects

Contracts totaling $1.6 million will pay for turf mowing and care, building renovations, new vehicles and water studies.

CONROE, TX -- The Conroe City Council award $1.6 million in contracts that will fund a number of city services.

The service contracts cover a host of city needs from anticipated building renovations, and replacement vehicles, to mowing services for city facilities and roadways.

The renovation of the Dean Towery Administration Building was among the most costly needs and will cost nearly $750,000 for needed upgrades that city leaders believe will make the building more energy efficient, and will take about six months to complete once the project is launched.

The renovations will include project replacing the heating and cooling system, replacing windows with more energy-efficient windows and adding additional material in the attic to prevent heat loss.

Meanwhile, other city services will be funded included the turn and grass maintenance services.

Rangle's Lawn Landscaping in Conroe won a $4,320 bid for the turf services at the city's bus shelter sites, while B&C Constructors LLC in Magnolia was awarded a $257,400 contract for the turf services at Conroe Tower, the city's fire stations, Parks and Recreation Department and the Conroe Police Department.

Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam Inc. was awarded a contract for on-call water modeling services that will provide data pas part of the 2026 COnroe Water Master Plan.
The $200,000 contract will provide services that include data review, model updates and analyses necessary to assist the city staff on system conditions change.

The council also approved its portion of a flood protection plan with the San Jacinto River Authority, which will focus on the West Fork of the San Jacinto River and Lake Conroe.

Burditt Consultants LLC was selected to provide the architectural and design services for the improvement to Carl Barton Jr. Park at a cost of $140,000.

The proposed improvements will include parking and road improvements, tennis courts, soccer field lighting, a maintenance building, walking trail, a sand volleyball court and a pavilion.
