Conroe Man Convicted Of Murder, Sentenced To 9 Years: Report

CONROE, TX — A Conroe man was convicted of murder and sentenced to nine years in prison by a Montgomery County jury Wednesday, according to a report by the Conroe Courier.
Court documents show Jason Goldsmith was charged with murder connected with an incident on Oct. 28, 2018.
Goldsmith, 35, shot Keith Kiker, 37, of Houston in a Mattress Firm parking lot on Vision Park Boulevard in Shenandoah during a personal dispute and faced an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, according to the report. The charges were upgraded to murder after Kiker died in a hospital on Nov. 17, 2018.

At trial, which took place in the 9th District Court presided by Judge Phil Grant, Goldsmith's lawyers argued he killed Kiker in self defense, according to the Courier.
