Police say the officer did nothing wrong and did not use excessive force, but the man arrested say the officer was overly violent.

CONROE, TX -- The Conroe Police Department released dashcam footage of a 4th of July incident which resulted in claims of police brutality. The department released the footage claiming that the officer acted within his rights.
Click 2 Houston reported that Adrian Salazar, 22, of Conroe, had been at the scene of a one-vehicle accident when a Conroe police officer approached the vehicle on the side of the road. Salazar was under the car at the time and the officer asked him to get out from under the car.
Salazar then turned away from the officer, who then grabbed Salazar. Seconds later, they were on the ground in a brief scuffle.

Initially, cell phone footage of the arrest was all that was available. The 10-second clip shows the Conroe officer on top of a man, punching him. But the dashcam footage shows a much longer scene from a different angle.
Conroe Police Chief Philip Dupuis said the officer acted within his rights and did not use excessive force. "The officer did what he was trained to do," Dupuis said in press conference.

Salazar, however, said he gave the officer "no reason" to start hitting him. He said he was under the truck when the officer arrived because he was afraid.
There have been no formal complaints against the police department regarding this incident.
Salazar and another man on the scene were charged with resisting arrest. The officer's hand was injured during the scuffle.
