Conroe Police Shoot, Kill Man During Domestic Disturbance

CONROE, TX — A domestic violence call in north Conroe led to an officer-involved shooting that left a Bellaire man dead Monday.

Joseph William Alain, 25, was shot to death when pointed a gun at police who were responding to a 911 call from inside a home in the 500 block of Hildred Avenue.

Conroe Police said Alain’s former girlfriend called 911 while she was hiding in a closet in the home, and told police Alain was abusing their 5-year old son, and fighting with her mother, identified as 52-year old Denise Russell.

Investigators said officers heard a loud disturbance when they arrived, and went inside the home to investigate and found Alain fighting with his former girlfriend.

The 24-year old woman was able to get free, and run out of the house past officers, who were trying to detain Alain.

Officers said Alain raised his gun and pointed it at officers, and was shot to death.

Investigators searched the home after the shooting and found Russell had been shot to death, and found the 5-year old boy hiding inside.

Police believe Russell was trying to protect her daughter and grandson from Alain, when she was killed.

Police said they believe Alain was upset about a recent breakup with his girlfriend, and drove from Bellaire to confront her at her parent's home.

The officer who shot Alain is on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.
